With the Greece Golden Visa, one property investment gives residence permits to the whole family. You can include:
- your spouse or registered partner
- unmarried children under 21
- dependent adult children
- your parents and your spouse’s parents
The main investor pays a €2,000 government fee. Each family member aged 18 or over pays €150, and children under 18 pay nothing. Every family member receives their own residence card. For investment amounts and other conditions, see Greece Golden Visa requirements.
Who can be included in the Golden Visa?
| Family member | Condition | Government fee |
|---|---|---|
| Main investor | Buys the property in their own name | €2,000 |
| Spouse or registered partner | Legal marriage or registered partnership | €150 |
| Children under 18 | Unmarried | No fee |
| Children aged 18–21 | Unmarried, under 21 | €150 |
| Dependent adult children (legally incapacitated) | No age limit; proven by official documents | €150 |
| Investor's parents | No financial dependency required | €150 |
| Spouse's parents | No financial dependency required | €150 |
Each person also pays a €16 residence card fee. Fees as of 1 November 2026.
Can My Spouse Be Included?
Yes. Your legal spouse can be included in the application. Same-sex marriages and officially registered partnerships are also recognised. Unmarried partners must prove their relationship with an official document. In Greece, this is a cohabitation agreement signed before a notary (σύμφωνο συμβίωσης).
Up to What Age Can Children Be Included?
Unmarried children under 21 can be included. They do not need to be students.
When a child turns 21, they can no longer renew as a family member. They can, however, apply for a separate residence permit in their own name. If your child is close to 21, do not delay the application.
Can Dependent Adult Children Be Included?
Yes. Law 5275/2026 came into force on 6 February 2026. Under this law, adult children who are legally incapacitated or need care can be included with no age limit. This must be proven with an official court or medical decision.
Can My Parents Be Included?
Yes. Both your parents and your spouse’s parents can be included. You do not need to prove that they depend on you financially. With all four parents included, one investment covers three generations.
What Do Children Under 18 Need?
Children under 18 pay no government fee, only the €16 card fee. They also need the following documents:
- Birth certificate: It must show both parents’ names. It must also be apostilled and translated into Greek.
- Consent of the other parent: If the child applies with only one parent, the other parent’s notarised consent is required.
- Custody documents: In divorced families, the final divorce decision and the custody decision are required.
- Passport and photo: A valid passport and a biometric photo taken within the last 6 months.
Children under 6 do not give fingerprints.
Children with a Golden Visa can enrol in Greek state schools and international schools.
Divorced Families and Children from a Previous Marriage
To add a child from a previous marriage, a birth certificate is not enough. You also need:
- the final divorce decision
- the custody decision
- notarised consent from the parent who does not have custody
Apostilles and translations take time, so start preparing these documents early.
What Documents Do Family Members Need?
- Passport and photo: A valid passport and a biometric photo taken within the last 6 months.
- Health insurance: Health insurance valid in Greece.
- Proof of relationship: A marriage certificate or an official partnership document.
- For children: A birth certificate showing both parents.
- For parents: A birth certificate or civil registry record linking the investor or spouse to their parents.
- If applicable: Custody and consent documents.
Documents issued abroad must be apostilled and translated into Greek. They should be issued within the last 6 months.
Should Family Members Apply Together or Later?
The simplest route is for the whole family to apply together with the investor. All documents go in one file, and the cards are issued together.
Family members can also be added later through family reunification. In that case, each person applies and books an appointment separately, so the process takes longer. Decide who will be included before you apply.
How Much Does It Cost for a Family?
Family members do not need any additional investment. One property covers the whole family. As the family grows, only the government fees, card fees and health insurance increase.
Example government costs for a family of four
| Item | Both children under 18 | One child aged 18–20 |
|---|---|---|
| Investor fee | €2,000 | €2,000 |
| Spouse fee | €150 | €150 |
| Children's fees | €0 | €150 |
| Residence cards (4 × €16) | €64 | €64 |
| Total government fees | €2,214 | €2,364 |
The property price, transfer tax, lawyer and notary fees and health insurance are not included. See our Greece property buying guide for the full cost breakdown.
